Saturday was Seb's big day of buying his first school uniform and shoes - in fact Seb was pretty underwhelmed but his parents thought it was a big deal. Seb will be off to Manorcroft school (their website currently displays a swine flu update and not much else) in mid-September and we'll be stuck with taking holidays during mid term and school holidays....
So we thought Seb needed some outdoor toys and you can't go wrong with a trampoline. Well you can't unless you leave to Lila and I to do the ordering. It's just a little bigger than we realised. Still, bit of a bargain from these lovely folk and it comes with a rain cover - kind of critical in the English summer (and winter...so all year really).
Delighted to say our beautiful little girl has finally made an appearance. She was born on Monday 30th June at about 11.50am and weighed 8 pounds. The first few days and nights were a bit gruelling but she's settled down into a regular pattern of eating and sleeping with a few hours in between each.
Here's a few snaps..
So nice to have a full two days each weekend - without Lila having to head to work. We headed to Windsor on Saturday morning for a bit of shopping and brunch. The afternoon/evening was gardening and the usual round of chores including updating the St John's website.
Today we headed up to the annual garden party at Royal Holloway - our house backs onto the university campus. It marks the end of term and the start of complete peace and quiet in our street while the students are away over summer. No more battling for car parking, discarded shopping trolleys and the occasioanl party. Actually they're not bad and we have to keep reminding ourselves that we were apparently young once.
Busy week coming up - me at work and Lila waiting for baby to make a move. More news soon we hope!
Took a day off work and headed to our local playground. This was Seb's third trip and he probably enjoys it more each time. This time he qualified (by being over 3) to drive the little cars so that was a bit of a highlight for him. Lila survived the day pretty well and earned a few sympathetic looks.
The only downside to the day was the rubbish lunch - fish & ships and various other deep fried items. Could do better.
We also paid a second visit to Christ Church school and confirmed that we'd love to send Seb there to start his schooling next year. Fantastic little school in a beautiful setting.
Had a fantastic weekend thanks to a) the weather, b) Kate and Kevin and Eric and c) university exams.
Firstly the weather; although it's worryingly like last year that started out so promising and then ended up being a rubbish summer, it's beautiful right now and we headed south to the coast (like half of London). We headed towards Bournemouth and then east along the coast to Christchurch. Stayed in a nice hotel just above the beach, complete with a pool so we could have a cood down after a wander down to the beach.
Secondly Kate and Kevin; they took good care of Sebastian on Saturday night and Eric survived having Seb run riot with his toys.
Thirdly exams; these are nearly finished which means the local students are starting to pack up and head home. That leaves our street very quiet and very empty. So we dusted off the BBQ on Sunday evening and finished off the weekend with some time outside.
Pity I have to go to work to pay for it all...
Because I decided I didn't have enough going on right now I thought doing something constructive for our local church would be a good idea. The site was built nearly four years ago and we generally agreed it was time for a refresh.
It was also built pretty much single handedly by a member of the church and was pretty forward thinking for its time - with rota management, registration, browser based editing, etc. The downside is that all larger changes need to be coded by Johnny who built the original site.So we're going to migrate to a new CMS that includes church admin and management functionality - we're in the process of choosing who we'll go with and we've been looking at both UK and US CMS providers.
We hope to have the new site up by the end of September.
